Early in 2014, the company MemBrain s.r.o. started the operation of the prestigious research institution, the MEMBRANE INNOVATION CENTRE, focused on the application of membrane separation processes in various industrial branches. By means of its premises and new equipment, the centre will support research and development activities of the company.

A new building has been constructed in Stráž pod Ralskem, containing five analytical laboratories and two technological halls for testing prototypes of membrane technologies and development of new methods of production of membranes.

At present, new instrumental equipment is being bought for the centre. Analytical instruments of the centre will include electron microscope, gas chromatograph, emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), infrared spectrometer (FTIR), liquid chromatograph etc. Technological halls of the centre will contain, for instance, a unique lamination line, combining several processes of production and processing of plastics and extraordinary testing room of membrane processes for tests of new prototypes of membrane modules and technologies.

The MEMBRANE INNOVATION CENTRE will extend research and development activities of the company in the following areas:

  • Research and development of membranes and membrane materials,
  • Research of membrane modules, devices and processes,
  • Research of membrane technologies and their application.

As early as during construction of the centre, new types of membranes and membrane modules were developed and membrane processes were applied in new applications. The results of research and development of the Membrane Innovation Centre can be seen at national and international conferences, in which representatives of the centre regularly participate. These results are also published in expert journals.
