The functionality of the membrane processes is ensured by conditionation of the feed stream. It usually consists of reduction in the concentration of chemicals and solid particles using both conventional and special procedures of aqueous solutions processing.
The group of pretreatment procedures encompass aeration, oxidation, coagulation, flocculation, flotation, clarification, neutralization, sedimentation, filtration, adsorption, ion exchange, disinfection etc., applied using conventional processing devices or special devices, including the pressure membrane procedures.
