It is well-known fact worldwide, that the membrane science is one of the leading science areas of today with large possibilities in the industrial innovation process. Many states have chosen this scientific area as one of the key areas of their scientific research. Membrane is the key for modern industry and also for life sciences, improving the life and society quality.
With respect to processes and technologies, we clearly prefer the new concept of integrated technologies for purposed applications, replacing the traditional notion of “addition”. The target of membrane and chemical engineering is to provide the most suitable tools for interconnection of these distant scales, from the micro- or nano-level up to entire multifunctional devices and technological units.
This complex of views is an impulse to create certain scale of priorities, emphasizing the right direction to follow, both in research and development of processes, and in their utilization. We have chosen to follow modern research trends in the field of chemical industry, power engineering, environment, food and beverages industry and healthcare. All of these industrial sectors are reaching limits in water or food sources, recycling and reuse of their waste streams is under development now.
