Membrane processes laboratory
MemBrain analytical laboratory offers complex characterization of ion exchange membranes and materials:

Quality of membrane production is tested in the laboratory. Laboratory is fully equipped with the measurement devices of membrane electrochemical properties, half-automatic titration, thermobalance, particle size distribution measurement by laser beam scattering, vacuum drier, microscope with photo and other minor devices for smooth work in the laboratory (shaker, analytical grade balance, driers, homogenization etc.).
Raw material for membrane production is characterized by:
- measurement of ionex resin swelling
- measurement of ion exchange capacity of the ionex resin and intermediate products of the membrane production
- moisture content in ion exchange resin
- ionex resin particle size distribution measurement
- ionex capacity

Ion exchange membranes are characterized by their electrochemical and physical properties:
- areal and specific electric resistance
- permselectivity, transport numbers
- microscopic optical control
- hydraulic permeability
- physical properties, swelling (change in weight, length, width and depth)
Results are reported in the form of tables, graphs, commented reports and statistically interpreted.

Electrical and pressure driven laboratory units are used in technological laboratory for finding possibilities of separations of real waters and other media. Separation problems are usually already visible on this scale. Pilot testing on mobile middle size units is undertaken at the customer to get close to future technology parameters.
Team is equipped with electrodialysis units, electrodeionization units, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. Team is fully equipped with all measurement and supportive devices (multimeters, termoregulation, dosing pumps, cool storage boxes, photometers, turbidimeter, automatic titration, balances, humidity measurement, furnace etc.). Many measurement devices are connected to personal computers to achieve higher quality data and quicker evaluation of the process.
