History
The company MemBrain s.r.o. is a research organization, meeting conditions specified by valid Czech legislation and the Community framework for state aid for research and development and innovation (2006/C 323/01), which is demonstrated legislatively on the basis of its charter of foundation. Even though the company MemBrain s.r.o. has been founded on 8 October 2008, its profile and references have more than ten years of history in the field of research. This history is built on the successful innovative activities of the management and membrane specialists of the company MEGA a.s., which has started, approximately ten years ago, systematic activities in the field of basic and applied industrial research through its research and development departments. Since its foundation in 1992, the company MEGA a.s. has concentrated on development and innovative activities, being of strategic importance for the company, which led to achieving a position of worldwide leader in the area of electro-membrane processes with its own production of ion-exchange membranes RALEX. All production procedures, technology and most of commercial portfolio of the company resulted from the company’s own innovative activity. The establishment and organizational integration of the research and development department, independent from the economic and matter-of-fact point of view, which has been carried out since 1999, first by means of an independent centre of research and department, and subsequently, since mid-2007, as an the independently run Division of Research and Development MEGA a.s. proves the systematic research activity and company strategy in the area of membrane processes. Within this period, an expert and implementation team of specialist has been formed, and the scope and depth of research programme activities have developed. This was primarily conducted under leadership and coordination of two key managers and specialists in these problems, i.e. the owner of the company MEGA a.s. ing. Luboš Novák, CSc., and ing. Aleš Černín, Ph.D., who created and controlled directly the research departments in the presented history. The scope of innovative activities gradually covered the applied and basic research in the field of membranes and membranes materials, together with modules and equipment, optimization of production processes and also research of technologies, emphasizing the application of results in industrial practice. The activities of the expert team have been complemented by the implementation of the innovative investment projects, based primarily on the results of our own research.
